Fr. Aaron Melancon is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana, born to Donald Melancon and the late Louella Batiste Melancon.  He has one sister, Adrienne Angelle, married to Morgan and two children, Juliette and Jaden.

Fr. Aaron graduated from Acadiana High School.  After high school, he attended St. Joseph Seminary College (St. Ben's) in Covington, Louisiana graduating from St. Ben's in 1991.  From there, he attended Mary Immaculate Seminary in Northampton, Pennsylvania In 1992, Fr. Aaron would attend Mount St. Mary's University and Seminary for Theological Studies completing his studies in 1997.  He would then be ordained a priest for the Diocese of Lafayette in 1997.

Fr. Aaron's first assignment would be at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette and would remain there for two years.  In 1999, he was assigned Associated Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley, Louisiana.  Bishop Edward O'Donnell appointed him to his first Pastor assignment in Loreauville, La.  In 2000, he became the pastor of Our Lady of Victory and St. Joseph in Loreauville, La.  In 2001, in addition to assignment as Pastor, Bishop O'Donnell would appoint Vocation Director for the Diocese of Lafayette.  In 2004, Bishop Michael Jarrell named Fr. Aaron director of Vocations and Seminarians and assigned him in residence at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Leroy, La. having sacramental duties at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Alphonsus Catholic church in Maurice, La.  In 2005, Bishop Jarrell appointed Fr. Aaron as Pastor of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecelia, La in addition to his duties as Director of Vocations and Seminarians.

In the summer of 2006, Fr. Aaron received his second Master's Degree from Xavier University earning a degree in M.A. in Theology.

In August of 2009, Fr. Aaron was appointed associate pastor with temporary duties at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette in addition to his duties as Director of Vocations and Seminarians.  www.lafayettevocations.org
